Some of Charles’ earliest memories are drawing farm animals
and his Dad teaching him the art of making toys from wood.

After graduating from high school, his first job landed him in West Texas, deep in the heart of ranching country, surrounded by ranches such as the Matador Ranch, Pitchfork, 6666 and many more.

Charles met and married his wife, Kathy, in 1960.  Their lifelong passion has been traveling the Southwest visiting art galleries.  This, along with living in ranching country, has been his training to be an artist,  thus self-taught.

After going back to school at Texas Tech in Lubbock, Charles took a job with Goodyear and moved his family to East Texas.  They now reside in Whitehouse, Texas, where they owned and operated an art gallery for five years.   He sold the galley and started traveling to art shows exhibiting his wood sculpture.  After retiring in 2000, Charles again took up the pencil and now devotes the majority of his time to drawing his favorite subject:  the cowboy and his horse.  Charles has exhibited in art shows all across the southwest, including  Arizona, Colorado, Montana, Kansas, Oklahoma and  Texas.

Charles and Kathy travel back to West Texas several times each year to visit with family and friends.  Some of them are working cowboys on area ranches, so these trips always include the camera to record scenes and activities in
 "Real Cowboy Country."
